Rowena’s passion for photography began fifteen years ago, over which time she experimented with various techniques and film.
Over a period of eight years of travel photography, her camera captured the colour and energy of many tribes and peoples from 48 countries around the globe, culminating in three exhibitions in New Zealand.
It was through her desire to experience various unique cultures that led her to dance, which expresses the very life and breath of ancient cultures in today’s world.
After travelling to Latin America in search of dance, Rowena has now based herself in Auckland focusing on capturing the diverse cultures of the city through dance and portraiture photography.
Being a Latin dancer herself greatly aids her dance photography as she understands the movement, rhythm and language of dance. In recent years, Rowena made the conversion from dark room to computer and now shoots digital.
Rowena’s warm nature and patience also attracts those requiring portrait and event photography.
Gear
Rowena uses the 22 megapixel Canon EOS 5D Mark 11, voted the worlds top camera as it has a full screen sensor and an ISO range up to 6400. Her lens range covers 14mm – 200mm (at F2.8), which enables her to photograph things near and far.
All digital editing of images is done on her MacBook Pro with Photoshop CS4 resulting in very high quality images. |
